Mission Ukraine at the Ukraine Expert Conference 2025
On 3 July 2025, Mission Ukraine participated in the Ukraine Expert Conference on Civil Society, Resilience & Reconstruction (UEC 2025), held in Berlin. The one-day event, organized by Be an Angel e.V., European Ukrainian Bridge, and the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin, brought together around 200 participants from civil society, business, healthcare, tech, and humanitarian sectors to address the pressing challenges of wartime recovery and long-term reconstruction in Ukraine.
Co-founder Oksana Schocher joined a high-level panel discussion to share Mission Ukraine’s practical experience in delivering medical and psychosocial support amid war. Emphasizing efficiency and scalability, she outlined the organization’s strategy of supporting entire medical institutions to maximize impact and widen the reach. This systems-level approach has allowed Mission Ukraine to improve access to quality care for hundreds of people affected by the war.
At the same time, Nataliya Lukyanova, founder of Mission Ukraine, spoke about the human side of recovery, telling the stories of a young girl from Kherson learning to trust her body again, a doctor who found renewed strength, and a veteran whose life was transformed through a new passion for golf. These stories reflect the core values that drive Mission Ukraine: recovery, dignity, and resilience.
The conference also showcased powerful innovations in humanitarian technology. Tools presented by Be an Angel Board Member Thomas Humphrey – including a GPT-powered chatbot that generated live summaries of discussions, and a QR-based networking tool – demonstrated how thoughtfully applied tech can connect people, extend the life of events, and turn conversations into action. Mission Ukraine believes that such tools can help NGOs like ours act faster, connect better, and make decisions rooted in people’s real needs.
As donor fatigue grows and the complexity of Ukraine’s challenges deepens, forums like UEC 2025 matter more than ever. They provide a platform to raise awareness, build new partnerships, and co-create solutions that work during wartime and beyond.
A big thank you goes to the organisers as well as to all who joined the conversation, shared their knowledge, and renewed our collective commitment to building a resilient future for Ukraine.
