A Day of Calm, Connection, and New Beginnings

On May 13, Mission Ukraine held its first-ever “Golf for Veterans” event as part of the ongoing Veteran Path program — a project supporting the psychological recovery and reintegration of Ukrainian veterans.

Set amidst the peaceful greenery of the Kozyn Eco-Recreational Golf Center, the day offered twelve veterans an opportunity to pause, exhale, and reconnect — with themselves, with nature, and with others who understand their journey. For many, it was their first time ever holding a golf club — and with it, stepping into a space of balance, breath, and discovery.

Recognized as one of the most effective adaptive sports, golf offers more than just gentle physical activity. It supports mental well-being, fosters social connection, and creates moments of clarity and joy — especially for those navigating the complex transition from military to civilian life.

The event featured a friendly introduction to the sport, guided by supportive instructors who shared both the techniques and the philosophy of golf — emphasizing focus, calm, and presence. A shared meal afterwards offered space for laughter, honest conversation, and a sense of belonging. The day concluded with thoughtful gifts as tokens of appreciation.

Importantly, this initiative does not end here.
As part of the Veteran Path program, the participating veterans — and others — are now invited to continue playing golf on a regular basis, free of charge, with the support of our partners. This ongoing opportunity will help them build skills, strengthen community, and find a peaceful routine through sport.

We are sincerely grateful to our partners for making this day — and this continued initiative — possible:

— The NGO “United by Golf” Sports Club
— Kozyn Eco-Recreational Golf Center
— Shevchenkivskyi District State Administration in Kyiv
— Ukrainian Golf Federation

Together, we are creating spaces where veterans can heal, grow, and rediscover joy.
