Bread Therapy

Хліботерапія_Місія Україна

A therapeutic initiative for Ukrainian teachers, combining the meditative act of bread baking with psychotherapy practices to reduce stress, foster resilience, and restore emotional balance during wartime.

In times of war, Ukrainian teachers carry an immense emotional load as they educate and support children amidst ongoing instability. Nearly 50% of educators report considering leaving the profession due to stress. Our Bread Therapy initiative offers a unique and deeply symbolic response to this crisis.

By combining bread baking with psychotherapy practices, this project creates a safe space for educators to unwind, express themselves, and regain a sense of inner calm. Participants engage in tactile, meditative dough work and creative baking, using the process not only as emotional relief but also as a tool to reconnect with their own resilience.

Bread — a symbol of home, unity, and renewal — becomes a pathway to healing. After the pilot sessions, many teachers continued the tradition in their own homes and classrooms. They received a handbook on bread therapy and now share baked goods with their families and even send them to Ukrainian soldiers at the frontlines — turning care into action.

Bread Therapy is more than a workshop. It’s an invitation to pause, breathe, and create warmth in the middle of uncertainty.
